Who we are

A strategy, infrastructure, programme delivery, investment advisory, sustainability and public sector transformation firm - built by Africans, for the transformation of Africa.

Our story

Built on sustainability. Evolved for transformation.

Avant-Garde Innovation and Technology Services Ltd (RC 1184983) was founded in 2014 with a simple conviction: that Africa's most important programmes were being under-served by advisors who arrived with imported frameworks and left before implementation began.

What began as a specialist sustainability and environmental practice grew - deliberately, and in response to what clients actually needed - into an integrated advisory and delivery firm. Today, Avant-Garde advises governments, development partners, financial institutions and private sector organisations on complex transformation programmes across infrastructure, sustainability, investment, institutional reform and programme delivery.

Headquartered in Lagos, with a presence in Abuja and a network of associates and technical specialists across Africa and internationally, our teams have delivered programmes across Nigeria and selected African markets for federal and state governments, multilateral development partners, DFIs, listed corporates and privately-held businesses. What has stayed constant since 2014: an obsession with delivery, a rigorous methodology, and a belief that transformation is only real when it is measured.

Our philosophy

Strategy only creates value when it is delivered.

We reject the model where one firm gives advice and another firm delivers. That handoff is where transformation dies.

Integrated by design

Our practice areas are engineered to work together. A single programme may draw on strategy, financial modelling, PPP structuring, procurement, PMO discipline, ESG assurance and impact evaluation - from one firm, one contract, one accountable partner.

Strategy Financial modelling PPP structuring Procurement PMO discipline ESG assurance Impact evaluation

This integration is not a marketing claim. It is baked into how we scope, staff, deliver and measure engagements.

African context, global standards

Depending on client requirements, we apply internationally recognised frameworks and methodologies:

Why clients choose us

Six things that make Avant-Garde different

End-to-end capability

Strategy through delivery in a single firm. No handoffs, no lost context, no re-scoping.

Deep African bench

A multidisciplinary network of associate consultants, technical specialists and subject matter experts across Africa.

Independent and privately held

No products to sell. Our recommendations are ours alone, and they serve you.

Collaborative Delivery

We work seamlessly with governments, development partners, consulting firms, academia and technical specialists to deliver multidisciplinary programmes.

Measured outcomes

Every engagement carries KPIs. We publish learnings and we hold ourselves to results, not deliverables.

Executive-level teams

Our engagement partners have led programmes at the presidential, ministerial and board level.

Our values

Six values that guide every engagement

Sustainability

Every recommendation is tested against long-term economic, social and environmental impact - not just next quarter.

Innovation

We build new approaches when the standard playbooks do not fit African realities.

Integrity

Independent advice, transparent conflicts, honest reporting - even when the news is unwelcome.

Collaboration

Client teams, associate experts, partner firms and communities - brought together as one delivery unit.

Impact

We measure success in outcomes for beneficiaries, not by the size of the deck or duration of the retainer.

Excellence

Global-standard methodology, applied with rigour, delivered on time and within budget.

Eight steps from insight to lasting transformation

Our associate consultant network extends across Africa and internationally, enabling us to mobilise multidisciplinary teams for specialist mandates on short notice.

Our people & expert network

How the firm is governed and how engagements are run.

Our strength sits in our people and the network of associate consultants and specialist advisers around them - not in any one individual. Engagements are led by senior partners and staffed with the specific technical, sector and geographic expertise each mandate requires, backed by a defined governance structure and quality assurance process.

Board of Directors

Statutory oversight of strategy, risk and finance. Chaired by the Founder & CEO with executive representation.

Executive Management

Firm-wide operations, client engagement, financial performance and talent leadership managed by the executive team.

Associate Expert Network

Curated network of associate consultants and specialist advisers mobilised for the specific technical needs of each mandate.

Project Governance

Every engagement has a defined governance structure — steering committee, engagement partner, delivery lead and quality reviewer.

Quality Assurance Process

Peer review, technical validation, editorial control and executive sign-off before any deliverable leaves the firm.

How we deliver quality

Our Delivery Standards and Methodologies

Every engagement is delivered against a defined quality framework. Depending on client requirements, we draw on internationally recognised methodologies including IFC Performance Standards, OECD DAC Evaluation Criteria, PMI/PRINCE2 project management standards, ISSB and GRI sustainability disclosure standards, and other globally accepted frameworks. Our internal Quality Assurance Process combines peer review, technical validation, editorial control and executive sign-off before any deliverable leaves the firm.
